Neptune in the Houses

Neptune in astrology represents illusion, imagination, selflessness, and escapism. The house placement of Neptune shows where we are most intuitive, creative, and sensitive to our environment and those in it. It is where we want to see the best in others (even to our own detriment) and have lofty aspirations that can at times teeter into delusion. This is also where we struggle most with boundaries, consistency, and overextending ourselves.

Neptune in the 1st House

You are idealistic, artistic, compassionate, and highly attuned to any environment you enter. You like to go with the flow and let your intuition guide you through life. Downsides of this placement can include being gullible and having lofty life goals, but lacking the discipline to see them through.

Neptune in the 2nd House

Neptune in the second house can cause a lot of confusion or outright carelessness around finances and possessions. Things like constantly losing or misplacing things, hemorrhaging money through unchecked spending, or even being grossly underpaid by employers can unfortunately be common issues for 2H Neptune. Some of the bright sides of this placement are your strong intuition, compassion.

Neptune in the 2nd House

Neptune placed in the house of thinking and communication can be both a blessing and a major hindrance. You have a wonderfully vivid imagination, often paired with a gift for the arts and written word. You may often retreat to your rich inner world for comfort or out of boredom, but it’s important to not use constant daydreaming as an escape from reality. You have a gentle or even melodic voice and your words can often put others at ease. When you find something that piques your interest, it is easy for you to lose hours totally immersing yourself in it. You are highly intuitive and may have psychic abilities. This placement can struggle with being easily distracted, procrastination, or daydreaming. Intuitive learners. Care must be taken to avoid manipulating others with your words.

Neptune in the 4th House

Neptune in the 4th can shroud the memories of one’s upbringing in a haze of confusion. You likely grew up in an environment that required heightened intuition and caring for others, possibly living with a caregiver who struggled with mental or physical health issues. You struggle to maintain boundaries with your family. You may find that you enjoy living near the ocean or other large bodies of water.

Neptune in the 5th House

Neptune in the 5th house bestows one with almost limitless levels of creativity. You are a hopeless romantic, being completely devoted and enamored with your lovers from first sight. Being such devoted lovers can unfortunately mean you often end up in situationships and other unbalanced/unrequited romances. For some with 5H Neptune, parenthood is a lifelong dream and they completely devote themselves to being nurturing and attentive parents. A downside of this placement is the possibility of losing themselves completely in parenthood, being too passive with their kids, or living vicariously through their children.

Neptune in the 6th House

Neptune in the house of work and daily habits can show difficulty with establishing routine and consistency. 6H Neptune can struggle with finding or keeping jobs, working themselves to the point of burnout, or being taken advantage of at work by others. Work life balance is important to avoid illness. You rarely rarely have strict routines as you can struggle with the consistency required, so you usually just go with the flow instead.

Neptune in the 7th House

Having Neptune in the 7th can give one an unrealistic and, at times, unhealthy approach to relationships. You are empathetic, devoted, and dream of a fairytale romance. It is hard for you to gauge other’s true intentions, so you often view those you love with rose tinted glasses. 7H Neptune tends to either manifest as a person who gives too much in relationships without getting the same effort back, or a person who takes more than they reciprocate. Sometimes the partner may just be dealing with an illness (physical, chronic, or mental) that requires care or at least patience, while other times the partner can just be self absorbed and seeks someone who takes on all the work to keep them and the relationship stable and happy.

For the person who gives too much, you have a big heart and always want to see the best in others. This idealism combined with a desire to fix bad or broken people makes you a magnet for less than ideal partners. To avoid heartbreak, it is key to accept people at face value rather than seeing their potential. It is also important to expect reciprocation and to not give multiple chances when someone shows their true colors.

For others with 7H Neptune, they can be the partner who relies too heavily on their partner to deal with the hardships of everyday life. Giving a partner the power to control your life, you are also surrendering your own control.

The magic you seek in others is often already within you, as your devotion, creativity, and romanticism are what makes your relationships magical. you will often be oblivious to the light you bring to others, but others will see it and often siphon it away without you noticing.

The problem is this idealism can cause you to give more than you receive in relationships and attract people who take advantage of your devotion.. Neptune in the 7th can also indicate attracting partners who are deceptive, down on their luck, or in sketchy activities because you have a big heart and want to “fix” people. This placement can also indicate a person who seeks partners to care for them, to avoid the harder parts of life. While 7H Saturn puts relationships on a pedestal because of the status and prestige, 7H Neptune genuinely views their partners with rose colored glasses. Care must be taken when entering business partnerships as this placement can indicate partnerships being plagued with hidden motives and deceptive contracts/tactics.
